PURSUING INTIMACY WITH GOD
TIMES OF REFRESHING
ONLINE DAILY DEVOTIONAL by Obiorah Prince Emeka
DATE: FRIDAY 11 SEPTEMBER 2020
One of the greatest experiences every child of God will always crave is, intimacy with God. It is such a lovely, wonderful and delightful experience. No wonder, St. Augustine said, “To fall in love with God is the greatest of all romances; To seek Him, the greatest adventure; To find Him, the greatest human achievement.”
Pursuing intimacy with God entails seeking closeness to God through prayers, worship and study of the word, desiring God’s presence and having a quality relationship with Him. Intimacy with God leads to an experience that will, without a doubt, impact and change our lives.
SCRIPTURE:
One thing I ask from the LORD, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple. (Psalm 27:4) NIV
REFRESHING FOR THE DAY:
The closer you are to God, the more of God you become.
So, how can one prepare for this great communion with God?
1. Admit genuine repentance. (Matthew 4:17, Romans 6:23, Acts 4:12). This is important to beginning a relationship with Jesus Christ, but it needs to be genuine, heartfelt sorrow over sin and serious and ongoing attempts to turn away from it (2 Cor. 7:10).
2. Truly desire for God’s transformation power in your life: (Galatians 2:20, 1 Thess. 4:3, Phill. 4:13)
3. Live by the Spirit: Galatians 5: 16-18 tells us that if we live by the Spirit, we will not gratify the desires of the flesh.
Beloved, do you want to experience unadulterated presence of God in your life? Begin now to pursue greater intimacy with God. For out of a place of quiet communion flowed great passion, power and purpose, that will change our life and world forevermore.
NOTE THIS:
The closer you are to God, the more of God you become.
RESPONSIBILITY:
Seek God with all your heart, (Jeremiah 29:13)
PRAYER:
O LORD, I want more of YOU, take all of me and give me more of YOU, in Jesus’ name Amen! (Go ahead and continue to pray)
