ONLY ONE THING IS NEEDED
TIMES OF REFRESHING ONLINE DAILY DEVOTIONAL www.thefountspring.org
DATE: WEDNESDAY, 24 NOVEMBER 2021
Yesterday, as God helped us, we saw that no one who sits with God in the secret place, comes out and his life remains the same. But contrary to the truth, we have allowed too many things to occupy our life, while in all earnest ‘only one thing is needed’ – sit down with Jesus.
SCRIPTURE: “Martha, Martha, you are worried and upset about many things, but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.” (Luke 10:42) NKJV
REFRESHING FOR THE DAY: In Luke chapter 10:38-42, two sisters, Mary and Martha welcomed Jesus into their house as He was travelling with His disciples. As Martha hurried to ensure the welfare of Jesus, Mary simply sat at the feet of Jesus and listened to the wisdom of Christ. While Mary soaked in the moments with Jesus, Martha couldn’t think past the cooking and washing.
At some point, Martha became frustrated with all the work she was doing alone and complained to Jesus! But Jesus said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and upset about many things, but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.” So, Beloved hear this, no matter how important you think every other thing might be in your life, it can never be juxtaposed to ‘sitting down with Jesus’. You don’t trade it with anything in your life. Stay Lifted!
NOTE THIS: No matter how important we think every other thing might be in our life, however, ‘only one thing is needed’ – sit down with Jesus.
RESPONSIBILITY: Make it a point of duty to sit daily at the feet of the Master.
PRAYER: O LORD JESUS, I choose that one thing, to always sit down at your feet all the days of my life, in the name of Jesus’ Amen! (Go ahead and continue to pray)
PROPHETIC WORD: As you have chosen to always sit at the feet of the Master, may you never lack any good thing in your life again, in the name of Jesus’ Amen!
