Living for Something Greater Than Yourself (6)
Times Of Refreshing Daily Devotional
Date: Friday, 21 November 2025
Topic: Living for Something Greater Than Yourself (6)
Focus: Choosing Legacy Over Luxury
🔥Theme:
We live in a world that constantly teaches self-promotion, self-focus, and self-glory. Yet the call of Christ pulls us in the opposite direction—into a life of surrender, service, and significance. True greatness is not found in how much we accumulate, but in how much we give. Paul captures this divine pursuit perfectly: “I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” —Philippians 3:14
To live for something greater than yourself means to embrace the eternal over the temporary. It’s choosing purpose over pleasure, calling over comfort, and legacy over luxury. Every believer is called to live as a vessel through which Heaven touches earth—to carry God’s heart, reflect His love, and fulfill His divine assignment. This 7-day devotional will help you realign your focus, rekindle your sense of mission, and remember that you were created for more—more than survival, more than success, and more than self. You were created for Kingdom impact.
📖 Key Verse:
Philippians 3:14 (NIV): “I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”
Devotional:
The world teaches us to chase luxury—comfort, status, accumulation, and applause. But God calls His children to pursue legacy—impact, influence, obedience, and eternal significance. Jesus asked one of the most piercing questions ever recorded: “What shall it profit a man if he gains the whole world, yet loses his soul?” —Mark 8:36
Luxury dies with you. Legacy lives beyond you. When you live for something greater than yourself, you stop measuring life by what you own and start measuring it by who you touch, what you build in the Spirit, and the seeds you sow into eternity.
📖 Scripture Reading:
Mark 8:34–36 – The cost of following Jesus.
Psalm 112:6 – “The righteous will be remembered forever.”
Hebrews 11:24–26 – Moses choosing God’s purpose over luxury.
💧 Refreshing for the Day:
Abraham didn’t choose luxury—he chose faith, and became the father of nations. Moses didn’t choose Pharaoh’s palace—he chose God’s purpose and delivered a people.
Esther didn’t choose comfort—she chose calling and saved a generation. Every person who made history with God had to make this choice: comfort or calling, luxury or legacy. Legacy is built through sacrifice, obedience, and vision that outlives you. It is formed in moments when you choose character over convenience, faithfulness over fame, and stewardship over self-indulgence. Beloved, true greatness is not about what you have—it’s about what you leave. Luxury fades, but a life lived for God leaves an eternal mark. Stay Refreshed!
✨ Note This:
🔥 Don’t chase what shines; build what lasts.
🛡️ Responsibility:
✅ Identify one area where you’ve been living for comfort instead of calling.
Choose legacy today—make a sacrifice that honors God and impacts others.
🙏 Prayer:
Lord, help me to choose legacy over luxury. Give me a heart that values eternal things above temporary comforts. Let my life leave a mark that brings You glory. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
🔥 Prophetic Declaration:
I am a builder of legacy! My choices carry eternal weight. I live for God’s glory, for His purpose, and for the generations that will come after me. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
