BEWARE OF THE ENEMY’S TOOLS OF DISTRACTION

TIMES OF REFRESHING

ONLINE DAILY DEVOTIONAL by Obiorah Prince Emeka

DATE: MONDAY 9 NOVEMBER 2020

Yesterday, we learnt that the greatest plot of the enemy is the plot against a person’s purpose and destiny, to distract him from fulfilling his God’s given mandate on earth. We also took note that the enemy employs several ways and tricks to distract the people of God.

Now let us look at the various tools the enemy may employ to distract the people of God.

SCRIPTURE:

“Come,” said Jesus. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water, and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the strength of the wind, he was afraid, and beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!”, (Matthew 14:29-30) BSB

REFRESHING FOR THE DAY:

Distraction hinders a man’s growth in life and limits his destiny.

At first the devil tries to distract you directly in order to devour you. But once you are focused and non-attentive, he fails at that. Next, he tries to befuddle you through entangling alliances, and friends, (Nehemiah 6:1-19). He could also come in the form of cares, worries and anxieties of life, deceitfulness of wealth and riches, (Matthew 8:8-9), pleasures and delight for sin, and desires and glamour for other things, (Genesis 3:1).

From our anchor scripture, Jesus invited Peter to come to him, at first Peter gazed his eyes on Christ, he stayed focused on Jesus, and he began to walk on the sea. But immediately, he stared off Jesus, he began to pay attention to the wind and the other apostles; all these distracted him and he began to sink.

Beloved, we probably will not walk on water, but we may walk through tough situations of life. So, we must refuse to be distracted by the waves of the difficult circumstances around us, and focus on Jesus, and we shall overcome. Stay Lifted.

NOTE THIS:

Distraction hinders a man’s growth in life and limits his destiny.

RESPONSIBILITY:

O LORD, guide and protect me from every form distraction, in Jesus name, Amen! (Go ahead and continue to pray)

PROPHETIC WORD:
