The Oil of the Secret Place (6)

Times Of Refreshing Daily Devotional

Date: Friday, 22 August 2025

Topic: The Oil of the Secret Place (6)

Focus: The Cost of the Secret Place

🔥 Message:

The secret place is where the deepest intimacy with God is birthed. It is not found in the noise of the crowd, nor in the applause of men, but in the quiet corners where your heart meets His. In the secret place, roots grow deep, oil flows fresh, and strength is renewed. Jesus taught us that prayer is not a performance for others, but a personal encounter with the Father (Matthew 6:6). The secret place is not about location but posture—it is the hidden life of communion where Heaven pours oil into vessels that wait. This oil sustains you when the storms rage, empowers you when battles come, and prepares you for the Bridegroom’s arrival.

This series journey will take us back to the hidden place of prayer, teaching us to draw fresh oil for every season of life.

📖 Key Verse:

Matthew 6:6 (NIV) — “But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.”

Devotional:
The secret place is rich with oil, refuge, and intimacy—but it comes with a cost. Intimacy with God requires sacrifice. Moses climbed Mount Sinai and stayed forty days in God’s presence (Exodus 24:18). Jesus rose early while it was still dark to pray (Mark 1:35). Daniel prayed three times a day, even when it endangered his life (Daniel 6:10). Each one paid a price for the oil they carried. The cost of the secret place may be:

  • Sacrificing sleep to rise early in prayer.
  • Turning off distractions to give God undivided attention.
  • Saying “no” to comfort so you can say “yes” to communion.

📖 Scripture Reading:
Exodus 24:18 – Moses stayed with God 40 days.
Mark 1:35 – Jesus rose early to pray.
Matthew 25:4 – The wise carried extra oil.

💧 Refreshing for the Day:
The wise virgins in Matthew 25 understood the cost. They carried extra oil, while the foolish did not. That extra oil represented preparation, sacrifice, and devotion. When the Bridegroom came, only those who paid the price were ready. The cost of intimacy is real, but so are the rewards. Heaven always responds to sacrifice. The oil of the secret place flows to those willing to pay the price of intimacy. Stay Refreshed!

Note This:
🔥 Extra oil costs extra sacrifice.

🛡️ Responsibility:
✅ Identify one distraction or comfort you can lay down this week to give God more time in the secret place.

🙏 Prayer:
Lord, give me grace to pay the price of intimacy. Help me value Your presence above comfort, and to carry the extra oil that sustains me in every season. In Jesus’ name, Amen!

🔥 Prophetic Declaration:
I choose the secret place, no matter the cost! My oil will not run out, my lamp will not go dim, and I will be ready for the Bridegroom’s coming. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
