Very often we run from uncomfortable and painful situations. We try our best to avoid them and when they inevitably come, we seek every means of escape. When God allows times of difficulties in the life of the believer, it is not to punish the believer, it’s to cause the believer to grow and mature in their walk Him.

SCRIPTURE: Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. (James 1:2-3) NLT

REFRESHING FOR THE DAY: Trying times are God’s instruments for growing and maturing believers, so we must embrace and learn from them.

When we are always seeking a way of escape from painful and uncomfortable situations, we remain stagnant and never growing. In scriptures, Jesus never promised the believers a trial-free journey. He, however, promised severally that regardless of how bad a situation is, His presence is a guarantee for the believer.

From our anchor scripture, James encourages believers to rejoice in their tribulations because the testing of their faith produces endurance.

Beloved, are you currently facing one battle of life or the other? Are you desperately seeking a way of escape yet it seems like there is none? I counsel you today, ask the Lord to open your eyes to the lesson you must learn from this season of your life. Ask Him for grace to shift your focus from the toughness of the situation to the maturity of faith the situation is producing in you.

NOTE THIS: Trying times are God’s instruments for growing and maturing believers, so we must embrace and learn from them.

RESPONSIBILITY: When it seems a situation is more than you can handle, lean on Jesus because He promises His presence at all times, even to the ends of the Earth.

PRAYER: O LORD, help me to embrace difficult seasons of my life knowing that it is maturing my faith in you, in the name of Jesus’ Amen! (Go ahead and continue to pray)

PROPHETIC WORD: In your trying times, may you find the grace to grow and mature in your walk with God, in the name of Jesus, Amen.
