FAITH BEYOND FEELINGS: SEEKING GOD DESPITE EMOTIONS (2)
TIMES OF REFRESHING DAILY DEVOTIONAL www.thefountspring.org
DATE: THURSDAY, 13 JUNE 2024
So, beloved, how do you seek God beyond your fluctuating emotions, ensuring that your pursuit of Him is steadfast and unwavering? First, it is important to acknowledge that emotions themselves are not inherently wrong. God created us as emotional beings. However, when we allow our emotions to dictate our faith, we risk developing a relationship with God that is inconsistent and shallow. Thus, you must develop a faith that goes beyond the ebb of your emotional states.
SCRIPTURE: “Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.” — Romans 10:17 (NIV)
REFRESHING FOR THE DAY: A steadfast faith seeks God consistently, not swayed by the highs of joy or the lows of despair. The foundation of such a faith that transcends emotions lies in the unchanging nature of God. Hebrews 13:8 reminds us, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” Therefore, while our emotions may fluctuate wildly, God remains constant. His love, grace, and promises are steadfast, providing a reliable anchor for our souls. Stay Refreshed!
NOTE THIS: By focusing on God’s unchanging nature, we can cultivate a faith that is not easily shaken by our emotional ups and downs.
RESPONSIBILITY: So, regularly immerse yourself in the Word of God to remind yourself of God’s unchanging promises and character.
PRAYER: Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for creating us as emotional beings, allowing us to experience the depth and richness of life. We recognize that our hearts can be deceitful and our feelings fickle. Teach us to root ourselves in Your unchanging Word, which is a lamp for our feet and a light on our path. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
PROPHETIC WORD: May we find stability in God’s promises and draw strength from His unchanging nature, for He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. In the name of Jesus, Amen!
