STAY COMMITTED TO YOUR PURPOSE (2)

TIMES OF REFRESHING ONLINE DAILY DEVOTIONAL www.thefountspring.org

DATE: MONDAY, 9 JANUARY 2023

So, committed people outlast the difficulty, they achieve their greatest potential and reach the fullness of their destinies. Yes, these are so true, but it takes a resolute perseverance and an unwavering dedication to be possible. That was exactly the case of Elisha in 2 Kings chapter 2. Prophet Elijah had an assistant named Elisha. Elisha was like a son to him. He took care of Elijah and went with him everywhere and made sure that he had what he wanted. So, when he was about to be taken up to heaven in a whirlwind. Elisha got to know about it and was committed to his service to him. Three times Elijah tried to get Elisha go home, but Elisha understood this principle so well. He knew his destiny was tied to staying committed to his master. So, each of those times, Elisha would say to Elijah,

SCRIPTURE: …“As surely as the LORD lives and as you live, I will not leave you…” (2 Kings 2:2 NIV)

REFRESHING FOR THE DAY: So, when they crossed the Jordan river, Elijah asked him, “What do you want me to do for you before I leave”? Elisha said, “I want a double portion of your anointing”. He said, “You’ve asked a hard thing, but if you see me when I’m taken away, you will have it” (Vs. 10). After a little while, as they were walking along, a whirlwind took Elijah up into the heavens. His mantle fell on Elisha. Elisha picked up Elijah’s rod, struck the Jordan river, and it parted. Elisha ended up performing twice as many miracles as Elijah. So, beloved, note that, Elisha would’ve never seen the double portion if he had not stayed committed to Elisha. He wouldn’t have seen the fullness of his destiny. There will be plenty of times where you’re tempted to walk away from your destiny, but I counsel you, stay committed to your purpose. Stay Refreshed!

NOTE THIS: It feels great when we stay committed to our purpose. The rewards are so enormous; however, they aren’t for everyone. They’re only for people who don’t give up when it’s not exciting.

RESPONSIBILITY: So, consciously determine to always stay focused and committed to your purpose.

PRAYER: O LORD, give me the grace to always stay committed to my purpose, in Jesus’ name, Amen!

PROPHETIC WORD: As you keep staying committed to your purpose, may you never lose your destiny, in the name of Jesus’ Amen!

BIBLE TEXTS: 2 Kings 2:1-14
