PRAYERS ALONE ARE NEVER ENOUGH (11)
TIMES OF REFRESHING DAILY DEVOTIONAL www.thefountspring.org
DATE: WEDNESDAY, 26 JUNE 2024
Prayer is where we seek God’s guidance and blessings, but action is where we show our commitment and effort. Suppose a builder who dreams of constructing a beautiful, sturdy home that will stand the test of time. They pray daily for guidance, strength, and the resources needed to complete their project. However, despite their prayers, they never draw up blueprints, gather materials, or lay a foundation. The builder’s prayer is important, but without the action of planning and building, the dream home will remain a vision in their mind.
SCRIPTURE: “Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Won’t you first sit down and estimate the cost to see if you have enough money to complete it? For if you lay the foundation and are not able to finish it, everyone who sees it will ridicule you, saying, ‘This person began to build and wasn’t able to finish.’” — Luke 14:28-30 (NIV)
REFRESHING FOR THE DAY: So, beloved, our spiritual lives function similarly. We may pray for guidance, strength, and resources, but God calls us to actively engage and build upon the visions He has given us. Just as the builder must take tangible steps to construct the home, we must take intentional steps to realize the dreams and goals we pray for. Think about the areas in your life where you’ve been seeking God’s guidance and resources. Are you actively taking steps to plan and build towards those goals? Reflect on how you can combine your prayers with deliberate action and effort. Stay Refreshed!
NOTE THIS: Just as the builder must take tangible steps to construct their dream home, we must actively engage in planning and building towards our goals. Embrace the discipline of construction alongside your prayers, trusting that God will use your efforts to bring about a beautiful and lasting result.
RESPONSIBILITY: What dreams or projects have you been praying about? Are you also taking the necessary steps to plan and build towards them? It’s time to start laying the foundation, trusting that God will bless your efforts and dedication.
PRAYER: Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for the dreams and visions You place within us. Help us to understand that while prayer is essential, so is our commitment to plan and build. Grant us the wisdom to create a solid foundation and the strength to see our projects through. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
PROPHETIC WORD: May our work be blessed and our efforts bring glory to God’s name. In the name of Jesus, Amen!
