O GOD, MY SOUL THIRSTS FOR YOU (1)
TIMES OF REFRESHING ONLINE DAILY DEVOTIONAL www.thefountspring.org
DATE: SATURDAY, 23 MARCH 2024
In the depths of our being, there exists a profound longing—an insatiable thirst that cannot be quenched by the offerings of this world. It is a thirst that transcends the physical and delves into the depths of the soul, a thirst for something greater, something stronger, something eternal. It is a thirst for God. This is not just a subject; it is a cry of desperation. It resonates with the deepest recesses of our hearts and encapsulates the essence of human longing—a yearning for something beyond the material, a craving for spiritual fulfillment that only God can satisfy. The Psalmist understood this well and declared thus,
SCRIPTURE: “O God, You are my God; Early will I seek You; My soul thirsts for You; My flesh longs for You In a dry and thirsty land Where there is no water.” – Psalm 63:1 (NKJV)
REFRESHING FOR THE DAY: This cry of prayer is a declaration that nothing in this world—no possession, achievement, or relationship—can satisfy the longing of our souls like the presence of God. It prompts us to prioritize spiritual nourishment above all else. Just as our bodies crave water to sustain life, our souls yearn for God to sustain our spiritual vitality. But the big question is, how do we quench this spiritual thirst? This and other impactful points we shall discuss tomorrow, but till then, Stay Refreshed!
NOTE THIS: There is nothing in this world—no possession, achievement, or relationship—can satisfy the longing of our souls like the presence of God.
RESPONSIBILITY: So, dearly beloved, as we come before God today, let our hearts echo the cry, “O God, my soul thirsts for You.”
PRAYER: O LORD, You are our God. We recognize that in You alone can our deepest longings be satisfied, and our spirits find true rest. Ignite within us a burning desire to seek Your face, to pursue Your presence with all our being. In the name of Jesus, we pray, Amen!
PROPHETIC WORD: As we come to God today, may our deepest longings be satisfied, and our spirits find true rest. In the name of Jesus, Amen!
