NO MORE DRY ALTARS: REKINDLING THE FIRE OF PRAYER AND WORSHIP (1)
Times Of Refreshing Daily Devotional
Date: Wednesday, 16 April 2025
Focus: Rebuild the Broken Places
Message:
Many altars have grown cold, but God is calling us to repair and relight them. This series awakens fresh hunger and daily devotion.
Key Verse:
📖 1 Kings 18:30 – “Elijah repaired the altar of the Lord that had been torn down.”
Devotional:
Before the fire of God could fall on Mount Carmel, Elijah had to do one thing first—repair the altar of the Lord that had been torn down. The people of Israel had turned their hearts toward idols. The altar that once hosted God’s presence had been neglected, left in ruins, and forgotten. No wonder the fire wasn’t falling. This is a picture of many hearts and homes today: once burning with prayer and passion, now dry, distracted, and torn down. The absence of fire is not God’s rejection—it’s often a reflection of a neglected altar.
📖 Scripture Reading:
1 Kings 18:30 – “Elijah said to all the people, ‘Come here to me.’ They came to him, and he repaired the altar of the Lord, which had been torn down.”
Joel 2:13 – “Return to Me with all your heart… for He is gracious and compassionate…”
💧 Refreshing for the Day:
But, beloved, here’s the good news: God is not finished. He’s calling you back to the place of devotion. Back to the place of communion. Back to the altar of intimacy. Elijah didn’t build a new altar—he repaired the one that had fallen apart. And that’s what God is calling you to do: Rebuild the rhythms. Reignite the passion. Return to the place of prayer. Before revival comes, the altar must be restored.
So, ask the Lord honestly: What part of my spiritual altar has been torn down? Your altar might be your prayer life, your worship, your quiet time, or your passion for God. Take the first step today by showing up—He’s waiting at the altar. Stay Refreshed!
✨ Note This:
The fire won’t fall on what’s broken—until it’s rebuilt.
🛡️ Responsibility:
Choose one area of your spiritual life to rebuild today. Start small: 15 minutes of undistracted prayer, reading the Word, or worship. Set the first stone.
🙏 Prayer:
Father, I come back to the altar. I admit where I’ve grown cold, distracted, or spiritually dry. Help me rebuild. Rekindle the flame. Repair what’s been neglected. I desire Your fire again, Lord. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
🔥 Prophetic Declaration:
I am rebuilding the altar. I will not live dry. I return to the place of fire, and I will burn again for the glory of God! In Jesus’ name, Amen!
