DON’T LIVE FOR YOURSELF ALONE (2)
TIMES OF REFRESHING ONLINE DAILY DEVOTIONAL www.thefountspring.org
DATE: TUESDAY, 9 AUGUST 2022
So, beloved, when we refused to live for ourselves alone and begin to live for others and being a blessing to them; the blessings of God will chase us and overtake us. We will be so blessed, that all our needs will be met. Yes, this is true. And the absence of this reality in our lives is the existence of selfishness.
SCRIPTURE: Then Jesus called the crowd to Him along with His disciples, and He told them, “If anyone wants to come after Me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow Me. (Mark 8:34 BSB)
REFRESHING FOR THE DAY: So, it’s selfish that would make a person to live for himself or herself alone without considering others. This selfishness is even found in the church and mostly amongst the body of Christ. But it becomes so worrisome that some people would want to amass all by themselves. They don’t care about the spiritual welfare of others. As long as they are good, and their family is doing great, they are fine. But it shouldn’t be so. This kind of lifestyle shouldn’t be seen among us. Jesus found this amongst His disciples and declared, “if anybody wants to come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me”.
Hence, the cross that we are to carry is not poverty and sickness; it’s not disaster nor misery, rather, it’s the cross to live selflessly. This doesn’t mean we shouldn’t take care of ourselves, but in doing that, we must balance it– thinking about and helping others too. And I can tell you if all of us begin to do this, the world would be a better place. Have a Refreshed Day!
NOTE THIS: When we begin to live for others, God begins to bless us.
RESPONSIBILITY: So, be careful to be a blessing, especially to everyone and those of the household of faith.
PRAYER: O LORD, give me the grace to be selfless and cause me to live for others and be a blessing to them, in the name of Jesus’ Amen! (Go ahead and pray for other intentions as the Spirit leads)
PROPHETIC WORD: As you have learnt to live for others, may God’s blessings never depart from you and your household, in the name of Jesus’ Amen!
BIBLE TEXTS: Mark 8:34
