CHRIST IS OUR FIRM FOUNDATION (1)
TIMES OF REFRESHING DAILY DEVOTIONAL www.thefountspring.org
DATE: WEDNESDAY, 14 AUGUST 2024
In our ever-changing world, where uncertainty and challenges often shake the very ground we stand on, it’s easy to feel unsteady. The storms of life—whether they come in the form of trials, temptations, or tragedies—can leave us feeling vulnerable and overwhelmed. Yet, as believers, we are called to anchor our lives in a foundation that is unshakable: Jesus Christ
SCRIPTURE: “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.” — Matthew 7:24-25 (NIV)
REFRESHING FOR THE DAY:. Jesus’ teaching in our anchor Scripture draws a powerful contrast between two builders. The wise builder, who constructs his house on the rock, represents those who not only hear the words of Christ but also live by them. His house, though battered by rain, floods, and wind, remains steadfast because it is built on a solid foundation. The foolish builder, however, chooses to build on sand—a foundation that shifts and crumbles under pressure. The message is clear: Christ is the firm foundation upon which we must build our lives. His teachings, His love, and His sacrifice provide the stability we need in the face of life’s challenges and uncertainties. Stay Refreshed!
NOTE THIS: When we root our faith in Christ Jesus, we are not promised an easy life, but we are assured that our foundation will hold firm.
RESPONSIBILITY: So, beloved, take some time this week to examine the areas of your life where you may be building on sand rather than on the solid rock of Christ. Ask God to help you realign your priorities and strengthen your foundation in Him.
PRAYER: Heavenly Father, thank You for being our solid rock and firm foundation. In a world full of shifting sands, help us to build our lives on the unshakable truth of Your Word. Strengthen our faith so that we may stand firm in the midst of life’s storms, trusting that You are with us every step of the way. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
PROPHETIC WORD: May our lives reflect the stability and peace that comes from being anchored in Christ. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
