When Delays Prepare You for the Promise
Times Of Refreshing Daily Devotional
Date: Thursday, 12 March 2026
Topic: Things God Uses That We Usually Hate (5)
Focus: When Delays Prepare You for the Promise
🔥Theme:
Many of the things we dislike most—waiting, failure, correction, uncertainty, even discomfort—are often the very tools God uses to shape our character and deepen our faith. God’s ways are not always comfortable, but they are always purposeful. In this series, we will explore the unexpected ways God uses difficult or unpleasant experiences to develop wisdom, humility, endurance, and trust. What we often resist may be exactly what God is using to prepare us.
📖 Key Verse:
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him.” — Romans 8:28
Devotional:
Delays can feel frustrating. When something we hope for takes longer than expected, it is easy to assume that something has gone wrong. Yet God often uses delays as preparation. What we are waiting for may require growth, wisdom, or strength that we are still developing. God’s timing is never rushed because His plans involve more than just the moment—we see the present, but He sees the full picture.
📖 Scripture Reading:
- Habakkuk 2:3 — The promise will come at the right time
- Psalm 27:14 — Wait for the Lord
- Ecclesiastes 3:11 — God makes everything beautiful in its time
💧 Refreshing for the Day:
Joseph waited years before his dreams came true. David waited long before becoming king. Those delays were not wasted; they prepared them for the responsibilities ahead.
Delay is not denial. Delay is preparation. God is shaping both the promise and the person who will carry it. God’s delays often prepare you for greater purpose. Stay Refreshed!
✨ Note This:
⏳ God’s timing develops the person before delivering the promise.
🛡️ Responsibility:
When you feel delayed, remind yourself that God may be preparing you for something greater.
🙏 Prayer:
Father, help me trust Your timing when delays feel difficult. Teach me patience and strengthen my faith as I wait for Your promises to unfold. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
🔥 Prophetic Declaration:
I trust God’s timing in my life. Every delay is preparing me for the purpose and promise God has planned. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
