When Criticism Builds Strength

Times Of Refreshing Daily Devotional

Date: Friday, 13 March 2026

Topic: Things God Uses That We Usually Hate (6)

Focus: When Criticism Builds Strength

🔥Theme:

Many of the things we dislike most—waiting, failure, correction, uncertainty, even discomfort—are often the very tools God uses to shape our character and deepen our faith. God’s ways are not always comfortable, but they are always purposeful. In this series, we will explore the unexpected ways God uses difficult or unpleasant experiences to develop wisdom, humility, endurance, and trust. What we often resist may be exactly what God is using to prepare us.

📖 Key Verse:
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him.”Romans 8:28

Devotional:

Criticism is something most people dislike. It can feel unfair, uncomfortable, and sometimes painful. Yet God can use criticism as a tool to strengthen character and deepen humility. Not every criticism is correct, but even in difficult words there may be lessons worth examining. Criticism can reveal blind spots, refine attitudes, and develop emotional strength. It also teaches us how to remain steady when opinions around us change.

📖 Scripture Reading:

  • Proverbs 15:31–32 — Listening to correction leads to wisdom
  • Psalm 141:5 — Correction can be kindness
  • 1 Peter 2:23 — Responding without retaliation

💧 Refreshing for the Day:

David faced criticism from many people during his life, yet he continued to trust God rather than defend himself constantly. Over time, those difficult moments shaped his character and strengthened his dependence on God. Criticism can wound—but it can also refine. When handled wisely, it becomes a tool for growth rather than discouragement. Stay Refreshed!

Note This:

🛠️ Even uncomfortable words can become tools for growth.

🛡️ Responsibility:

When you hear criticism today, pause before reacting and ask whether there is wisdom you can learn from it.

🙏 Prayer:

Father, help me respond to criticism with humility and wisdom. Teach me to grow through difficult moments and keep my heart steady in You. In Jesus’ name, Amen!

🔥 Prophetic Declaration:

God is strengthening my character through every challenge. I grow in wisdom, humility, and confidence in His guidance. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
