UNDERSTANDING THE SEASONS OF PURPOSE (4)
TIMES OF REFRESHING ONLINE DAILY DEVOTIONAL www.thefountspring.org
DATE: THURSDAY, 30 NOVEMBER 2023
It’s true that our purpose and mandate may unfold in different seasons of life, but we certainly have our own shared efforts to make it happen. And one of the insights is to set realistic expectations. Setting realistic expectations is a crucial aspect of navigating different seasons of life. While it’s essential to dream big and set ambitious goals, it’s equally important to balance that ambition with a realistic understanding of your current circumstances. (see Luke 14:28-30)
SCRIPTURE: “Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Won’t you first sit down and estimate the cost to see if you have enough money to complete it? For if you lay the foundation and are not able to finish it, everyone who sees it will ridicule you, saying, ‘This person began to build and wasn’t able to finish.’ – Luke 14: 28-30 (NIV)
REFRESHING FOR THE DAY: So please, dearly beloved, don’t be too excited to set major goals in a hurry. Learn to adjust your expectation to match your current reality. Consider your stand, your resources, and evaluate whether your goals align with your present capacity. Stay Refreshed!
NOTE THIS: Adjusting your expectations to match your current reality doesn’t diminish your aspirations; rather, it allows for a more sustainable and achievable approach.
RESPONSIBILITY: We must as a matter of urgency learn to set realistic goals and balance our expectations with our current reality.
PRAYER: O LORD, thank You for Your Word today. Please teach us how to set realistic expectations, even as we begin to adjust our goals to match our current reality, in the name of Jesus’ Amen!
PROPHETIC WORD: And may all our hope and expectations never be cut off, in the name of Jesus’ Amen!
BIBLE TEXTS: Luke 14: 28-30
