Insights from the Scripture reveals that servanthood is what makes a person great, and that no one can become great without it (Mark 10:43). And it involves giving all to humanity unreservedly. However, there are certain characteristics to note about servanthood. It’s not just about serving and loving others, but it’s about serving and loving others with the right motives. God wants us to love and serve people with the right motives and do it all for the right reasons. Any wonder Jesus admonishes us in Matthew 6:2-4, He said,
SCRIPTURE: “So whenever you give to the poor and do acts of kindness, do not blow a trumpet before you [to advertise it]… but when you give to the poor and do acts of kindness, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing [give in complete secrecy]…” (Matt 6:2-4 AMP)
REFRESHING FOR THE DAY: So, beloved, as you’ve resolved to serving and loving others, do that with the right motives. Don’t just do it because you want to be great, but do it for the love for humanity. At first, your mind and emotions may rebel against it. But as you push past yourself and choose to focus on others, you will slowly but surely begin to experience a whole new level of peace and an uneven breakthrough in your life. Stay Refreshed!
NOTE THIS: If you truly want to have a great life—a life filled with peace, fulfillment, and meaning—it all begins and ends with loving and serving other people.
RESPONSIBILITY: So, I challenge you today: Ask God to show you people to serve and love. Get up each day and purposely think about who you can help—even if it’s just a little thing. Start somehow.
PRAYER: O LORD, give me the grace to serve and love others, and also make me a vessel through which others would be blessed, in the name of Jesus’ Amen! (Go ahead and pray for other intentions as the Spirit leads)
PROPHETIC WORD: As you begin to serve and love others, may God bless you beyond your imaginations, and cause you to be great, in the name of Jesus’ Amen!
