THE DYNAMICS OF TRANSFORMATION: EMBRACING A HIGHER LIFE IN CHRIST (4)
TIMES OF REFRESHING DAILY DEVOTIONAL www.thefountspring.org
DATE: TUESDAY, 21 MAY 2024
So, beloved, as we learn on, it’s wise we note that transformation in Christ is progressive. While the initial change is instantaneous, the process of sanctification—becoming more like Christ—is ongoing. This is where the dynamic nature of our transformation is most evident. We are called to “put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness” (Ephesians 4:22-24).
SCRIPTURE: “And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.” — 2 Corinthians 3:18 (NIV)
REFRESHING FOR THE DAY: The new creation in Christ is not merely an upgraded version of our old selves. It is a complete renewal that affects every aspect of our lives. Our values, desires, and priorities are reoriented to align with God’s will. We receive the Holy Spirit, who empowers us to live out this new life and cultivates within us the fruits of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23). Stay Refreshed!
NOTE THIS: Transformation in Christ is not a one-off effort, it’s a journey that will continue throughout our lifetime.
RESPONSIBILITY: So, as we journey on, let us embrace the process with hope and confidence knowing that God is at work within us. And we are not just becoming a better version of your old self; you are being made new, infused with divine life, and called to live out the fullness of who you are in Christ.
PRAYER: Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of salvation and the promise of transformation that begins the moment we accept Christ as our Savior. Renew our minds and hearts each day. Help us to put off our old selves with their deceitful desires and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
PROPHETIC WORD: May the Lord help us, guide us, and continue to strengthen us as we walk this path of transformation. In the name of Jesus, Amen!
