TAKE HEED, LEST YOU FALL

TIMES OF REFRESHING ONLINE DAILY DEVOTIONAL www.thefountspring.org

DATE: TUESDAY, 18 OCTOBER 2022

Many a time, we put reliance on our own strength, thinking we’re standing firm and having confidence in our own security. But the truth of the matter is, such a confidence in our own security is no evidence that we are safe. And maybe one of the strongest pieces of evidence that we are in danger and need help. That was the case of the people of Corinthians, and apostle Paul admonished them thus,

SCRIPTURE: Therefore, let the one who thinks he stands firm [immune to temptation, being overconfident and self-righteous], take care that he does not fall [into sin and condemnation]. (1 Cor. 10:12 AMP)

REFRESHING FOR THE DAY: So, beloved, take heed lest you fall is an expression that means to watch carefully, be careful, be vigilant or stay on the lookout, holding your ground and standing firm in your faith in the Lord. It is a warning to those in the church who are convinced of their own righteousness, while in all sincerity they should be very careful lest they fall. So, today, we are encouraged to put our trust in God and always depend on His unfailing strength knowing that aside from Him we can do nothing (Jn 15:5). Stay Refreshed!

NOTE THIS: Take care, brothers, lest there be in any of you an evil, unbelieving heart, leading you to fall away from the living God. But exhort one another every day, as long as it is called “today,” that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin (Heb 3:12-13).

RESPONSIBILITY: So, always be careful how you live your life, never depend on your own strength, but rather depend on God and put all your trust in Him.

PRAYER: O LORD, give me the grace to always trust in and depend on You, in Jesus’ name, Amen! (Go ahead and pray for other intentions as the Spirit leads)

PROPHETIC WORD: As you begin to trust in God and depend on Him, may He cause you not to fall, in the name of Jesus’ Amen!
