SURRENDER THE PAST AND EMBRACE TRANSITION
TIMES OF REFRESHING ONLINE DAILY DEVOTIONAL www.thefountspring.org
DATE: SATURDAY, 30 DECEMBER 2023
As we stand on the threshold of a new year, it is only natural for us to reflect upon the days gone by and take a moment to ponder on the chapters of the year that is bidding us farewell. Undoubtedly, there were moments of profound joy, and flashes of accomplishments. Yet, there may also be patches of challenges, struggle, and lessons learned through tears. But in all, we are called to surrender the past and embrace the transition into the newness. The Bible in Isaiah 43:18-19 echoes thus,
SCRIPTURE: “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” — Isaiah 43:18-19
REFRESHING FOR THE DAY: So, beloved, the call to surrender the past is not just an invitation to forget, but a release from the burdens that weigh heavy on our hearts. Lay down the mistakes, the regrets, and the unmet expectations at the feet of the One who makes all things new. Embrace forgiveness, both for yourself and others. Count your blessings, both big and small, and let a heart of thanksgiving be the foundation upon which you build the coming days. Stay Refreshed!
NOTE THIS: Surrendering the past means releasing the heavy burdens of mistakes and regrets. Just as a balloon cannot soar with weights attached, we cannot fully embrace the future if we are anchored to the past.
RESPONSIBILITY: So, in surrender, find freedom, and let the past be a stepping stone, not a stumbling block.
PRAYER: Dear Heavenly Father, as we stand on the precipice of a new season, we surrender the past with gratitude and humility. We release our grip on what has been and open our hearts to the transition before us. May Your Spirit guide us, and Your presence reassure us, in the name of Jesus’ Amen!
PROPHETIC WORD: As we step into the unknown of the coming year, may the journey be marked by faith, courage, and an unwavering trust in God who holds our past, present, and future in His loving hands, in the name of Jesus’ Amen!
