SERVING OTHERS: YOUR WAY UP
TIMES OF REFRESHING ONLINE DAILY DEVOTIONAL www.thefountspring.org
DATE: FRIDAY 21 MAY 2021
We all want to flourish, accomplish our dreams, overcome obstacles and succeed in life, but as long as we’re only focused on ourselves, we’ll get stuck. Service to others is the way up. God brings people and opportunities across our path, so we can be a blessing to them. When we serve others, that’s a seed we’re sowing. When we feed the hungry, visit the sick, pray with them, God takes us higher and causes people to be good to us.
SCRIPTURE: Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me. (Mathew 25:40) NIV
REFRESHING FOR THE DAY: When you focus not just on accomplishing your dreams, but on being a blessing, on serving others, then God will bless and establish you.
Beloved, the reason some people are not happy is all they think about is themselves: my dreams, my problems, my family. But you need to take a break from you. It’s not healthy to have you on your mind all the time. Take a break from what’s bothering you, take a break from what you want, and go be good to somebody else.
In Job 42:1-10, Job’s friends spoke ill about God; the Lord was angry with them and wanted to punish them, but the Scripture says, “after Job had prayed for his friends, the LORD restored his prosperity and doubled his former possessions”. Serving others opens even the doors of prosperity. Stay Lifted!
NOTE THIS: When you focus not just on accomplishing your dreams, but on being a blessing, on serving others, then God will bless and establish you.
RESPONSIBILITY: Voluntarily commit yourself to serving others.
PRAYER: O LORD, give me the grace to serve people and humanity, in the name of Jesus’ Amen! (Go ahead and continue to pray)
PROPHETIC WORD: As you serve others, may God bless you and establish you, in the name of Jesus, Amen.
BIBLE TEXTS: Matt 25:40, Job 42:1-10
