SEEKING A FRESH ENCOUNTER WITH GOD (1)
TIMES OF REFRESHING DAILY DEVOTIONAL www.thefountspring.org
DATE: WEDNESDAY, 28 AUGUST 2024
In our spiritual journey, there comes a time when we feel a deep yearning for more of God—an intense desire to experience His presence in a way we never have before. This longing is not born out of dissatisfaction with God but rather a divine hunger placed within us by the Holy Spirit. It is a call to seek a fresh encounter with our Creator, to go beyond the routine of our spiritual practices and step into a deeper, more intimate relationship with Him.
SCRIPTURE: “Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.” — James 4:8 (ESV)
REFRESHING FOR THE DAY: In the Bible, we see examples of individuals who sought after God with all their hearts, and as a result, they experienced life-changing encounters. Moses, on Mount Sinai, earnestly desired to see God’s glory. God responded to his longing by revealing His presence in a profound way (Exodus 33:18-23). The prophet Isaiah, in a moment of worship, encountered the holiness of God and was transformed, receiving a renewed sense of purpose (Isaiah 6:1-8). The disciples, in the upper room, waited together in prayer, and their lives were radically changed when the Holy Spirit came upon them (Acts 2:1-4). Stay Refreshed!
NOTE THIS: These encounters were not merely for the sake of experience but for the purpose of transformation.
RESPONSIBILITY: So, beloved, when we seek God, we do so with the expectation that He will not only reveal Himself to us but also change us, mold us, and empower us for His purposes.
PRAYER: Dear Heavenly Father, we long to encounter You in a fresh and powerful way. We confess that we sometimes become complacent in our walk with You, but today we choose to seek You with all our hearts. Cleanse us and draw us closer to You. Open our eyes to see Your glory and fill us with Your Spirit. In Jesus’ name, we pray, Amen.
PROPHETIC WORD: As we seek the Lord, may He transform us and use us for His greater purposes. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
