REMEMBERING OUR MORTALITY
TIMES OF REFRESHING ONLINE DAILY DEVOTIONAL www.thefountspring.org
DATE: WEDNESDAY, 14 FEBRUARY 2024
Beloved, I want to share with you this timely subject Remembering Our Mortality”. In the hustle and bustle of our daily lives, it’s easy to get swept away by the demands of work, family, and countless other responsibilities. We often find ourselves living as if we have all the time in the world, forgetting the sobering truth that our time on this earth is finite. Yet, the Bible reminds us of time and again of the brevity of life and the importance of remembering our mortality.
SCRIPTURE: “Show me, Lord, my life’s end and the number of my days; let me know how fleeting my life is. You have made my days a mere handbreadth; the span of my years is as nothing before you. Everyone is but a breath, even those who seem secure.” — Psalm 39:4-5 (NIV)
REFRESHING FOR THE DAY: The anchor Scripture paints a vivid picture of the fleeting nature of our existence. It speaks of our days being like a mere handbreadth, a span of years as nothing before the Lord. This imagery serves as a powerful reminder that our time on this earth is limited and that our lives are but a fleeting breath in the grand scheme of eternity. Stay Refreshed!
NOTE THIS: But remembering our mortality is not meant to fill us with fear or despair. Rather, it is an invitation to live with a greater sense of purpose and intentionality. It calls us to seize the precious moments we have been given and to make the most of our time on this earth.
RESPONSIBILITY: So, beloved, reflecting on this, prompts us to pause and consider the significance of our lives in light of eternity. It challenges us to evaluate how we are spending our time and whether we are investing in things that truly matter.
PRAYER: Heavenly Father, thank You for the precious gift of life. Help us to remember our mortality and to live each day with purpose and intentionality. In Jesus’ name, we pray, Amen!
PROPHETIC WORD: May we cherish the moments we have been given, and may our lives bring glory to God’s name. In the name of Jesus’ Amen!
