LIVING ONE DAY AT A TIME WITH JESUS (2)
TIMES OF REFRESHING DAILY DEVOTIONAL www.thefountspring.org
DATE: MONDAY, 22 JULY 2024
So, one of the greatest challenges we face is the tendency to dwell on our past mistakes or to be anxious about the future. However, Jesus teaches us to focus on the present. In the Lord’s Prayer, He instructs us to ask for our “daily bread” (Matthew 6:11). This simple petition highlights our need to rely on God for our daily needs, trusting that He will provide for us one day at a time.
SCRIPTURE: “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” – Matthew 6:34 (NIV)
REFRESHING FOR THE DAY: Consider the Israelites during their journey through the wilderness. God provided manna from heaven each day, enough for that day alone (Exodus 16:4-5). This daily provision was a powerful lesson in trust and dependence on God. They had to learn to rely on Him every day, without hoarding for the future. Similarly, we are called to depend on Jesus daily, trusting that He will supply our needs and guide us through each day’s challenges. Stay Refreshed!
NOTE THIS: To live one day at a time with Jesus, we must cultivate a daily relationship with Him.
RESPONSIBILITY: So, dearly beloved, as we walk with Jesus daily, we discover the peace and joy that comes from trusting in His faithful love and provision.
PRAYER: Heavenly Father, we ask for Your guidance and wisdom in every decision we make today. Help us to rely on Your strength and not our own, to seek Your presence in all that we do, and to trust in Your provision for our needs. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
PROPHETIC WORD: May the Lord fill our hearts with His peace, which surpasses all understanding, and help us to rely on His strength and not our own. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
BIBLE TEXTS: Lamentations 3:22-23
