JOURNEY TO BETHLEHEM: A PILGRIMAGE OF FAITH (1)
TIMES OF REFRESHING ONLINE DAILY DEVOTIONAL www.thefountspring.org
DATE: SUNDAY, 17 DECEMBER 2023
So, beloved, as we continue to reflect on the spiritual events of the season of advent and the inherent lessons therein; I want to share with you about “The journey to Bethlehem: A pilgrimage of faith.” The journey to Bethlehem was more than a physical walk; it was a pilgrimage of purpose woven into the divine tapestry of redemption. As we embark on this devotional journey to Bethlehem, may we learn insights from Joseph and Mary’s experience, discovering the profound lessons embedded in their detours and unexpected paths.
SCRIPTURE: “So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David.” – Luke 2:4 (NIV)
REFRESHING FOR THE DAY: Joseph and Mary’s journey to Bethlehem was not what they had planned. It was a period of census, and the Romans required their presence to register. The detour to Bethlehem, however, was a divine appointment, aligning with the prophetic promise of Micah 5:2. So, the first lesson we must learn in this scenario is that, sometimes, our detours in life are God’s way of orchestrating His perfect plan in our lives. Yes, God orchestrates events with perfect timing. So, beloved, are there areas in your life where you struggle to trust God’s timing? And how can we embrace unexpected turns, trusting that God is at work in our detours? We shall continue tomorrow, Stay Refreshed!
NOTE THIS: The journey to Bethlehem teaches us that God’s plans unfold according to His sovereign schedule.
RESPONSIBILITY: So, let us study the journey to Bethlehem, the pilgrimage of faith and learn from it.
PRAYER: Heavenly Father, as we journey through life, may we learn from the pilgrimage to Bethlehem, in the name of Jesus’ Amen!
PROPHETIC WORD: And may the Lord strengthen our trust and help us navigate unexpected detours in our lives with grace, in the name of Jesus’ Amen!
BIBLE TEXTS: Luke 2:4
