FAITH BEYOND FEELINGS: SEEKING GOD DESPITE EMOTIONS (4)
TIMES OF REFRESHING DAILY DEVOTIONAL www.thefountspring.org
DATE: SATURDAY, 15 JUNE 2024
Yet again, beloved, another sure way you must seek God beyond your shifting feelings is to genuinely act in faith, not feelings. You see, in our spiritual journey, it’s essential to recognize the difference between acting on faith and reacting to our feelings. Emotions, while a beautiful and integral part of our human experience, are transient and can be influenced by a multitude of factors. When we base our decisions solely on how we feel at the moment, we risk inconsistency and instability in our walk with God. Instead, acting in faith means making choices rooted in the steadfast truths of God’s Word, regardless of our emotional state.
SCRIPTURE: “Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.” – James 1:22
REFRESHING FOR THE DAY: The beauty of a deep, unwavering faith is found in its ability to transcend our fluctuating emotions. By rooting yourself in Scripture, committing to prayer, embracing spiritual disciplines, engaging in community, reflecting on God’s faithfulness, and acting in faith, you can develop a relationship with God that is both steadfast and resilient. Let your faith be like the deep ocean current, moving steadily beneath the changing surface of your emotions. Stay Refreshed!
NOTE THIS: Faith is a confident trust in God’s promises and character, even when our emotions suggest otherwise. Feelings, on the other hand, are temporary and often change with circumstances. While feelings are valid and important, they are not always reliable indicators of truth.
RESPONSIBILITY: So, beloved, embrace the beauty of a consistent, mature faith that stands firm in every season of life.
PRAYER: Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for Your unwavering Word that guides us and sustains us through every season of life. Help us to act in faith, making decisions that are rooted in Your truth rather than our fluctuating emotions. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
PROPHETIC WORD: May the Lord give us the wisdom to discern His will in our lives and the courage to follow it, even when it’s difficult or counter to our feelings. In the name of Jesus, Amen!
BIBLE TEXTS: James 1:22, Philippians 4:6-7
