The greatest secret that makes life worth living is not riches, possessions nor assets, but it is peace (John 14:27). And one of the reasons why too many people are depressed and unhappy despite their place and positions in the society is because they lack peace in their lives. So, as the new year begins, it’s right, we discover how peace could make a life worth living. Basically, we shall be looking at the three (3) foundational areas of life that we must have peace if we want to be fulfilled, content and joyful in this year. They are peace with God, peace with ourselves and peace with others. We look at peace with God today and subsequently at others.
SCRIPTURE: Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. (Romans 5:1 NIV)
REFRESHING FOR THE DAY: The first phase to finding peace is learning to trust God through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Jesus is the Prince of Peace (Isa. 9:6), and when we know Him as Lord and Savior, we have access to everything we need to live a full, joyful and peaceful life. Trying to figure out everything in life on our own will steal our peace, but when we trust in the Lord with all our heart and lean not on our own understanding; in all our ways submit to Him, He will make our paths straight (Prov. 3:5-6).
