Therefore, having looked at the steps we must take to grow courage in the face of fear, now, let’s discuss the Biblical accounts of individuals who exhibited great courage and conquered their fears with the help of God. The first is the account of David and Goliath in 1 Samuel 17. The Philistines and the Israelites were in a standoff, with Goliath, a giant champion of the Philistines, challenging the Israelites to send out a warrior to fight him in single combat. This terrified the Israelite army. Goliath was described as a giant, standing about 9 feet tall, and his armor and weapons were fearsome. David, despite his youth and lack of experience in battle, offered to confront Goliath. He expressed his faith in God’s strength, believing that God would deliver him from the giant.

Bottom of FormSCRIPTURE: “Then David said to the Philistine, ‘You come to me with a sword and with a spear and with a javelin, but I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.'” — (1 Samuel 17:45)

REFRESHING FOR THE DAY: David, with courage, faced the giant Philistine warrior Goliath when none of King Saul’s soldiers dared to do so. With unwavering faith in God, David slung a stone and struck Goliath in the forehead, defeating the giant. His trust in God’s strength and guidance allowed him to conquer his fear and achieve victory. Stay Refreshed!

NOTE THIS: The story of David and Goliath is an example of faith, courage, and God’s intervention in times of great challenge. It demonstrates that even the most formidable obstacles can be overcome with trust in God’s strength and guidance.

RESPONSIBILITY: So, beloved, let us ask God for the grace and courage, with His strength and guidance, to face even the most difficult obstacles in our lives.

PRAYER:  O GOD, give us the grace and courage just like David, to face and overcome every difficulty in our lives, in the name of Jesus’ Amen!

PROPHETIC WORD: As the Lord helps us, may we achieve victory over obstacles and difficulties in our lives, in the name of Jesus’ Amen!
