COMFORT FOR THE WEARY: JESUS’ GENTLE EMBRACE (5)

TIMES OF REFRESHING DAILY DEVOTIONAL www.thefountspring.org

DATE: WEDNESDAY, 11 SEPTEMBER 2024

Jesus’ embrace brings forgiveness, releasing us from the burden of guilt and shame. Guilt and shame are powerful emotions that can weigh us down and keep us trapped in cycles of self-condemnation and regret. They often arise when we feel that we’ve fallen short of God’s standards or our own expectations. While guilt points to the wrongs we’ve done, shame speaks to the core of who we are, telling us we are unworthy of love or forgiveness. Both guilt and shame can create a barrier between us and God, making us feel distant and unworthy of His grace.

SCRIPTURE: “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” – 1 John 1:9 (NIV)

REFRESHING FOR THE DAY: But the beauty of Jesus’ embrace is that it breaks through these barriers. He does not leave us to carry the weight of guilt and shame alone. Instead, He offers forgiveness, grace, and a fresh start. Stay Refreshed!

NOTE THIS: Confession Leads to Forgiveness. When we confess our sins, we are acknowledging before God that we need His help and forgiveness. We are not meant to bear the burden of our mistakes alone. By confessing, we open the door to receive His grace.

RESPONSIBILITY: So, beloved, let us come to Jesus Christ today, approach His throne of mercy with open heart and confess our sins.

PRAYER: Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for the promise of forgiveness. I come before You with a heavy heart feels with guilt and shame. I acknowledge that I have made mistakes, but today, I choose to lay these burdens at Your feet. I confess my sins to You, knowing that You are faithful and just to cleanse me from all unrighteousness. In Jesus’ name, we pray, Amen.

PROPHETIC WORD: As we come to Jesus today and confess our sins to Him, may He hear us, forgive us and heal us. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

BIBLE TEXTS: 1 John 1:9
