COME TO JESUS WHILE THERE’S TIME (1)

TIMES OF REFRESHING ONLINE DAILY DEVOTIONAL www.thefountspring.org

DATE: WEDNESDAY, 19 JULY 2023

We live in a world that moves at a relentless pace, it’s easy to become preoccupied with the cares and distractions of life. Amid the constant hustle, the gentle whispers of God’s calling may be drowned out, and the urgency of coming to Jesus can be overlooked. However, the Scriptures remind us that there is a critical element we must never forget: the element of time. Certainly, time is a gift bestowed upon us, but it is finite and unpredictable. God’s love and grace call us to Him continually, and yet, we are not guaranteed tomorrow. Just as Hebrews 3:15 exhorts us,

SCRIPTURE: “Today, if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion.” (Hebrew 3:15 NIV)

REFRESHING FOR THE DAY: Beloved, there is a sense of urgency in this verse—an urging to respond promptly to God’s invitation. Come to Jesus now while there’s time, tomorrow may be too late. You see, the Bible is filled with examples of people who responded to God’s call. Some heeded it immediately, while others delayed or turned away, leading to missed opportunities and consequences. The story of the rich young ruler in Mark 10:17-22 serves as a vivid reminder of the perils of procrastination. He came to Jesus seeking eternal life, but when faced with the cost of surrendering his possessions, he chose to walk away sorrowful, missing the opportunity to experience the fullness of God’s grace. So, I counsel you, do not seek to end like the young ruler, come to Jesus now while there’s time. We shall continue tomorrow, but till then, Stay Refreshed!

NOTE THIS: Procrastination says, there’s always tomorrow; but the truth of the matter is tomorrow may be too late.

RESPONSIBILITY: So, let’s beware of the dangers and perils of procrastination and act fast NOW!

PRAYER: O Lord, thank You for continuously calling me to come to You. Today, I open my heart to Your invitation and surrender my life into Your loving hands. Please cause me never to walk away from You, in the name of Jesus’ Amen!

PROPHETIC WORD: As you have come to Jesus today, may the Lord empower you to always remain in Him all the days of your life, in the name of Jesus’ Amen!
