COME AS YOU ARE
TIMES OF REFRESHING ONLINE DAILY DEVOTIONAL www.thefountspring.org
DATE: THURSDAY, 28 SEPTEMBER 2023
In the hustle and bustle of our daily lives, we often find ourselves carrying heavy burdens—burdens of worry, burdens of doubt, fear, guilt, and shame. These burdens can weigh us down and leave us feeling weary, as if the weight of the world is upon our shoulders. But, in times like these, it’s easy to lose sight of the fact that we don’t have to bear these burdens alone. Jesus invites us with open arms, saying, “Come as you are.” In Matthew 11:28-30, He said,
Bottom of FormSCRIPTURE: “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” — Matthew 11:28-30 (NIV)
REFRESHING FOR THE DAY: So, beloved, no matter where you’ve been, what you’ve done, or who you are, God invites you to approach Him with authenticity, vulnerability, and trust. God doesn’t expect us to come to Him with our lives all neatly put together or with all our problems solved. He invites us to come to Him just as we are, with our brokenness, our struggles, and our imperfections. He welcomes us with open arms, ready to provide rest for our weary souls. Stay Refreshed!
NOTE THIS: When you come to Jesus as you are, you will find rest and renewal in His loving embrace.
RESPONSIBILITY: So, in your prayers today, take a moment to lay your burdens at His feet. Allow His peace to wash over you, and trust that He will guide you through the challenges you face.
PRAYER: O LORD, Here I am, I have come to You. Take me as I am, in the name of Jesus’ Amen!
PROPHETIC WORD: As you’ve come to Jesus today, may the Lord help you and give you rest, in the name of Jesus’ Amen!
