CHRIST IS OUR FIRM FOUNDATION (7)
TIMES OF REFRESHING DAILY DEVOTIONAL www.thefountspring.org
DATE: TUESDAY, 20 AUGUST 2024
When we make Christ our firm foundation, our identities are secured in Him. In a world where identity is often tied to achievements, appearances, or the opinions of others, it is easy to feel insecure or inadequate. Society places immense pressure on us to define ourselves by what we do, what we have, or how we are perceived. But these worldly markers are fleeting and unreliable; they can change in an instant, leaving us feeling lost and uncertain about who we truly are.
SCRIPTURE: “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” (Galatians 2:20, NIV)
REFRESHING FOR THE DAY: However, for those who are in Christ, identity is anchored in something far more stable and enduring. Our true identity is not based on our accomplishments, status, or the approval of others, but on who we are in Jesus. When we understand and embrace this secure identity, we are freed from the endless pursuit of validation from the world, and we find our self-worth and confidence in the unchanging love of God. Stay Refreshed!
NOTE THIS: When we make Christ our firm foundation, our identities are secured in Him. It’s anchored in Christ, not the world.
RESPONSIBILITY: So, beloved, today, take time to reflect on where you have been seeking your identity. Make a conscious effort to shift your focus from worldly achievements or opinions to the truth of who you are in Christ.
PRAYER: Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for the incredible truth that our identity is secure in Christ. We are grateful that we are not defined by our achievements, failures, or the opinions of others, but by Your love and grace. Help us to fully embrace this identity and to live confidently as Your beloved children. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
PROPHETIC WORD: When we face the pressures of the world, may God help us to stand firm in the knowledge of who we are in Christ, and give us the grace to discover our self-worth in Him alone. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
