AWAKE, THOU THAT SLEEPEST (4)

TIMES OF REFRESHING ONLINE DAILY DEVOTIONAL www.thefountspring.org

DATE: FRIDAY, 18 AUGUST 2023

So, again, beloved, we’re not only called to wake up but also to “arise from the dead.” It’s a profound call to leave behind the ways of our old selves, the habits and attitudes that hinder our growth in Christ. For in Christ, we find the power to overcome the grip of sin and death, to shed the weight of spiritual tiredness and walk in the light of His truth. Hence, just as Christ conquered death, we too are called to rise above the spiritual deadness that can hold us captive.

Bottom of FormSCRIPTURE: “Awake, awake, Zion, clothe yourself with strength! Put on your garments of splendor, Jerusalem, the holy city. The uncircumcised and defiled will not enter you again.” (Isaiah 52:1 NIV)

REFRESHING FOR THE DAY: Therefore, this call is an invitation to a life of purpose, vitality, and intimacy with God. It’s a reminder that the journey of faith is not meant to be passive, but an active and dynamic relationship with God. So, as we answer this call, may we rise from the deadness of our old ways and embrace the light that Christ offers. Let us be vigilant, watchful, and fully engaged in the divine adventure He has set before us. Stay Refreshed!

NOTE THIS: Just as Christ conquered death, we too are called to rise above the spiritual deadness that can hold us captive.

RESPONSIBILITY: So, as we heed this call today, let us ask God for the grace to rise from the deadness of our old ways and embrace the light that Christ offers.

PRAYER: O LORD, I thank You for the call to awaken from spiritual slumber. Give me the grace to rise from the deadness of my old self and embrace the fullness of life in Christ, in the name of Jesus’ Amen!

PROPHETIC WORD: As you rise from the deadness of your old self, may you find light in Christ, in the name of Jesus’ Amen!

BIBLE TEXTS: Isaiah 52:1
