AWAKE, THOU THAT SLEEPEST (3)
TIMES OF REFRESHING ONLINE DAILY DEVOTIONAL www.thefountspring.org
DATE: THURSDAY, 17 AUGUST 2023
Having established the need for every believer to awaken and answer the call of God on their lives, a new question arises. What does it mean to be awake or to awaken from slumber? What are we waking up to and what is God’s expectation from us? Let’s discover what Scripture says in 1 Thessalonians 5:6
SCRIPTURE: “So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be awake and sober.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:6 (NIV)
REFRESHING FOR THE DAY: To awaken is to come alive in the spirit. It is to have our souls purged and our spirit man alive in Christ. It means to be led by the Holy spirit in every area of live and to truly submit to the lordship and authority of Christ over our lives. A man who is awake is a man who is keeping watch and wielding his scepter of priesthood over every territory God has assigned to him. It is to be sober-minded and not guided by the evil desires of our flesh. In this season, God is calling His own to awaken. Those that belong to Jesus know His voice and they hear Him and follow Him (John 10:27). Therefore let whoever has ears hear what the spirit is saying to the churches (Revelations 2:29). Stay Refreshed!
NOTE THIS: To awaken is to come alive in the spirit and to have our souls purged of the evil desires of the flesh.
RESPONSIBILITY: Let us heed to the call of Christ to His bride the church and awaken to our responsibilities as fruitful and effective members of His body.
PRAYER: O LORD, I thank You for the call to awaken from spiritual slumber. Help me to rise up to my responsibilities as your faithful bride in the name of Jesus’ Amen!
PROPHETIC WORD: As you heed this call of spiritual awareness, may you find light in Christ, in the name of Jesus’ Amen!
